Gamerscore Whore vs Achievement Whore

I have only recently started playing games just for achievements and I still cannot decided whether I should try to complete every game I play or just rack up a few points here and there in every game available. I'll admit I have viewed games with achievements such as killing 10,000 players online or winning 1500 ranked matched and sworn never to play that game only because of the thought of not being able to obtain 1000 gamerscore in it.

Gamerscore - Playing any and every game picking up all the achievements that do not require too much of a time commitment

Completion - "Quality over Quantity" This gamer goes out of their way to reach 100% competition in even the most trying games

What do you think? Which path is the better, more enjoyable, and the most impressive one in your opinion?

Its not so much the Gamerscore but the noise the ACHIEVEMENT makes when you unlock it, the gamerscore shows how many ACHIEVEMENTS youve gotten

I think it depends. The achievment system means that I play games much more in depth than I ever did before in many cases exploring a game for all it is worth. Games like the Call of Duty series (excluding 3) and are the best example that I can think of.

However there are games that have acheivements that are deliberately cruel and grinding through them is not pleasureable (like the Seriously achievement in GOW) In my opinion these achievements detract from the overall experience and can make a great game leave a sour taste.

well i guess im a gamerscore whore bc i dont mind stopping at 900 GS per game. but if i love the game ill grind out some of the harder ones. like 500 agility orbs in crackdown

I would say that I am an Achievement whore, as I am the type that likes to do 100% in games I play. I have set aside some of the harder games to work upsome easy games though. I am now grinding on Gears every Friday night with peeps here though.

Lol, I call the second one a completionist which is what I am, of course I will play crappy games, but not just for a few points, I will finish them and get the full 1000.

I think both have their ups and downs. Sometimes I hate being a completionist in the fact that I will play a crappy game and finish it just because it bothers me not to have done so. So I can't pick up a game play it for an hour get 20 achievement points and quit because its bad. I have to finish it all the freaking way because I'm stuck. So I would say its only good to be a completionist if you play mostly good games and check out the games before you buy them. A GS whore can play the game until they don't feel like it anymore and move on to the next one, but then of course should you really be proud of only easy achievements?

I am not at all a completionist. I am a GS whore but I do draw the line at playing terrible games. If a game completely blows donkey sack then I will not play it. No exceptions.

I'm not sure I've played any game more deserving of the title of "blows donkey sack" than that game. Except maybe Conan

lol whats even worse is at the time of release the game was glitched to be 920 max score. I no longer have my gamesave and I refuse to replay it for the last 2 achievements.

Sorry for getting totally off the subject, but really? That game still makes me sick to play it. If I hear the main character ask an enemy one more time to "Say hello to death!" I will puke. The story was ok, but the graphics were terrible, the game was glitchy as all get out...... Did you play it on the PC or something?

ok there might have been a bit of sarcasm in that lol but it wasnt all that bad of a game. it sure as hell isnt a game of the year game lol.
