Microsoft and Lionhead released a statement today confirming that Fable II co-op has passed certification and will be available via free download on launch day (Oct 21st). That is good news and shows that Microsoft can move quickly when they want to. The official statement:

I still call foul. Why not push it back a little more and do it right out of the box? I blame Gears of War 2

I'm waiting on my from amazon and since I'm a cheapo I went with the free shipping. Should be here Thursday which isn't that bad. I agree with Raine... why push it back... this capability requires Live so an update is more than sufficient. If it was part of the game that got updated that didn't have anything to do with online play, then yes, that would be a bummer for those that are not part of live (Yes, I know someone that has never connected their 360 to Live!)

I'm just glad it has co-op at all. I think it's pretty cool of them to get it out in time for the game proper.
