Disc read error a lot!

Well, most of the time when I am in a game, and exit to the dashboard by hitting the guide button and Y, I have some problems. After this, if I decide to play the game again, it will usually say "Please insert disc into XBOX 360 console".

This also happens if I turn the system off while in a game, turn it back on, and play the game.

Sometimes if I leave the tray open for about 5 minutes and pop it back in it works, but I usually get sick of waiting and turn it off.

I hope you guys understood and can help me...

I called Microsoft a while back, and they sent me a box to ship it in. I didnt feel the need to send it in because I thought it was only the disc...sometimes, and didnt want to ship a second 360 back...

And I forgot to mention, my discs are in perfect condition...not a scratch on them.

Sounds like your console is on its way to the big resting place in the sky.

I just ran through a bunch of threads on the Xbox.com forum regarding this issue and the general consensus is that you need to ship it in to get it repaired. It will progressively get worse.

OK thanks. I will see how it goes. I could also get it replaced at Best Buy, but I dont want to loose all my saved data.

If you use the repair service from Microsoft you do not use up your PRP from Best Buy. Also, you do not send in your HDD, so you don't lose any saves or downloads. Although I got back a refurb, the total turnaround was one week from when I shipped it until I received one back.

When you swap at Best Buy outside of the 30 day return period and use your Product Replacement Plan, it is then used up and you would have to buy a new one.

I bought a warrant there. I actually need to notify them of my serial number change. Should have done that a couple of months ago when I got my new one from Microsoft.

At Best Buy, if your xbox is still under the microsoft warrentary, then they will just swap it and your extended warrentary will still be valid....thats what i did about 2 or so weeks ago. If its not still under warrentary, then well, your out of luck....they even did a hard drive swap for me.

This happened to me when I got Tony Hawk but it was really scratched....then it happened yesterday in pdz.. so I wiped it with a soft cloth and hasn't done it since:D

Well dam, it happened again with pdz...I'm thinkin that it has to do with bein on all that time but I hope I dont have to exchange it. I will try my other games and see if it does the same thing but my pdz disc is in perfect condition:(

I got my system Dec. 18th so I am no longer in warranty with them but I have the Best Buy 2 year which you were saying could only be used once then no more if it breaks within the 2 years after that?

Yes you are. They extended it out for 6 months. I got mine on 11/19 and used the 1-800-4MYXBOX

Once the Microsoft warrentary is out, you can only get one replacement with the Best Buy extended warrentary. If it is still under the Microsoft warrentary, then you could take it to Best Buy and replace it as many times as you need to. However, the Microsoft warrentay does not carry over to each new 360. They use the original 360 purchase for the Microsoft Warrentary.

So I go to Best Buy since my Microsoft warranty is still in effect and just tell them that ...and they shouldn't give me any problems or make me use the 2year product replacement thing.

nope...as long as you can prove that the warrentary was extended, you shouldn't have any problems.
