Ok I don't know if this is the right forum or not but my friend REALLY wants to get an xbox but he doesn't have very fast internet ( he has some satellite internet thing ). He wanted it to know if using dial up would be ok to play live on or would it just lag like shit? Oh this more twords halo 3 matchmaking because thats what he really wants to play.

To sum everything up the question is pretty much: Can you play Halo 3 on xbox live using dial up without it lagging really bad.

I doubt it. I dunno about Xbox Live, but on the PS2's online gameplay broadband was pretty much needed

You cant use dial up because its not ethernet supported, dial up uses phone cords which pass data through them differently then ethernet chords do. You cant plug a phone cord into your xbox Lol

ya wat ninja said you can't even get your xbox on to live at all with a dialup connection. on xbox.com it says wat isps are supported

besides i didn't even no you could get dialup from a satelite i thought you could only get DSL or does he get it through fone and not his satelite

no he has something called like hughes net witch is like wireless internet thats you get through a satellite but he can use his friends dial up connection because his brother used to use it when he played WoW

i still thought u could only get DSL through satelite but i may be wrong depending on where you live

You can play Live over a regular modem connection. They even talk about this on the Halo special edition disk. It is not recommended though for obvious reasons.

It's fairly easy to connect with dialup, you can run a network cable from a pc connected to the internet via modem that is sharing its Internet.
