Dashboard Update: Installing Games Demo

Well now, over at 360fanboy.com, it seems as though someone got their hands on the new dashboard update a little early. Even better, they have been kind enough to give us a little demo on installing games to the harddrive. It apears to copy every single MB from the disc to your 360's harddrive. I wonder if this would give a significant advantage over people playing the same game on live using the disc? Interesting...

dude if tey do it like that, thatd be almost like burning games. you dont have to go and buy the game. but in this case, you dont burn the disc, you just copy it...so all youd really need is a friend who has a game you want or rent a game you want and just burn it to the harddrive!

Hmm. You would still need the disk I would assume then. Because some material is copyrighted and I am guessing this would be for a select few games with which the publishers agree.
yea id guess so. thats going to be hard to program lol
off topic....
OMG IM A CAMPER NOW!!! w000

Well i could see problems with this. 1 People would need to buy bigger hard drives seeing as it would take up alot of space on it. If you have an elite you will still run through that space pretty fast. And your probobly right where only a few publishers are going to agree to this and may even pull their games off rental shelves. But doesnt always mean that us Gamestop employees still cant rent them Lol, o and on a side note i have my interview tommorrow for gamestop so im almost posotively hired

If you burn the disk to your hard drive you still need to have the disk in your xbox to be able to play the game. The reason for being able to burn it to your hard drive is so to have faster load times and such.
But you won't be able to go rent a game than burn it to your hard drive and return it back to the store. Whatever game you play you will still need to have it in your disk tray for the 360 to recognize that you have the game.

Wow, that was fast about the video being pulled, lol. Yea, I would imagine it would only be for the few games you play all the time to speed up loading times, or if your going to be playing, say, Dark Sector for a while and want to eliminate the load times between levels, just install it the first time you put it in, then delete off the drive when you're done.
