The PS3 is probably the cheapest way to get one. However, since HD-DVD was canned, the Blu Ray sales have sagged so badly that NPD won't even provide rating for them until later this year.
The cost is still too high for what you are getting. I would wait until later in teh year when Chirstmas comes, as that is when the costs should drop to the $200-$250 range....

I said all along, the only reason Blu ray was winning was because watching movies was the only thing you had to do if you bought a PS3. I think it's funny as hell that they (sony) spent so much trying to kill HD DVD, and when they did their sales bottemed out. They were so sure that once they where the only one's all those way over priced movies would just fly right off the shelf. An yet they still don't understand why we won't pay 30-40 dollars for a movie. Hey JackASS's just lower the price. Even at 20 bucks their still making a huge profit. Morons!!!

If you have the right T.V. HD movies look amazing. After watching Transformers on my 50 inch Toshiba HD T.V. through my regular xbox and then watching the same movie on a Sony HD T.V. and a PS3 the picture was AMAZING and the difference was extrodinary!! Their is a huge difference if you have a nice HD T.V. and a bluray player.
But then again is the price worth it? If you were a huge movie buff then it probably would be but currently im fine with the regular DVDs

Well I only have an HD player and that seems fine to me. I wouldn't spend so much on Blu-Ray when you can get HD which is very close to being just as good, and is way cheaper (the movie selection is MUCH smaller though).
