Battlefield: Bad Company Boycott

It seems the crew over at SarcasticGamer have put together a trailer for Battlefield Bad Company outlining the reason for their boycott. For those of you not aware, the Battlefield Bad Company beta has revealed that some weapons in the game are only available by purchasing the higher priced "Collector's Edition", and that other weapons are only available by purchasing them with Microsoft Points, so EA is basically charging players for guns in a First Person Shooter. Check out SacasticGamer's take on this, and the hilarious trailer, here.

EA is going to have to do something, or this is going to flop. From what I've seen from the beta it is not a bad game at all, but this DLC issue is the final straw. If anyone pedals more downloadable content than Microsoft it's got to be EA. I remember them charging to unlock stuff without playing the game in...I want to say Tiger Woods PGA Tour.

That video was hilarious. I was interested in the game, but now I'm just going to pass it by. They better not do this with the sequel to Mass Effect

While I completely disagree with EA on this, apparently the weapons do not impact the level of the field when it comes to multiplayer...
EA has become the single biggest money grubbing whore in all of gaming IMO....

This is so retarded it's not even funny. As long as the weapons don't impact game balance and aren't outrageously priced there are a lot of people making a mountain out of a molehill.

Regardless of the specific example, it appears as if people are getting tired of being nickle and dimed for things that used to be a fun, and an expected part of the gaming experience.
Micro transactions and In-Game advertising appear to be less about off-setting costs as padding the bottom line. If it were a company with a long tradition of producing high-quality games, the attitude may not be as severe. When it involves a company that has a history of suppressing competition instead of rising to the challenge with higher quality...then you get the idea.

If you give a mouse a cookie, he's going to ask for a glass of milk. If we give in and let them charge for things like guns in a FPS, they'll just keep taking it farther.
Personally, there is no way in hell I'm going to buy this game now.
