When you first load up the game, you are greeted with a short animation of two "Guitar Hero's" dueling it out on-stage. Cool, you'll watch it the first time, but then you'll soon find out it takes away important shredding time. The menus are very different from the norm. Made to look like promotional band posters, every one is different. There are four main modes of play: Career, Quick Play, Multiplayer, and Training. In career mode, you start a band (which you name), choose your difficulty (Easy, Medium, Hard, Expert), and perform live shows. At each show you perform, you have a choice of five songs to play, usually you only have to play four. In all the modes but easy, you can perform encores for your adoring fans and earn money to spend in the store on new guitars, finishes, characters, songs, costumes, and videos. In quick play, the concept is pretty simple. Grab your guitar and get on stage. Multiplayer lets you pit your rock skills against a friend and see who is the best. Unfortunately, it's not online, so you have to have an extra controller. In training mode, you can go through the three tutorials or you can practice songs in your own pad before playing them live. Whatever mode you choose, it's sure to be fun.
Now you're probably reading this and wondering if there is anything wrong with this game. My answer, No. Okay, not completely, but it is a great game, but for those of you that want to know the downsides of buying this game, here they are:
No Live Play- Sure you can play multiplayer with your friends in your house(if you have an extra X-Plorer controller), but what if your friend is on the other side of town? You can't play with him.
No customizable characters- This probably isn't that big of a deal, but it would be nice to be able to create your own rocker to fit you instead of having to choose from a list.
Your hand WILL hurt- I guarantee it. I play guitar and after the first session of playing the game, my hand hurt. I guess the pain is just a sign that you've been playing a little too much.
So that's it, not much wrong with this game. It's a blast to play and makes you feel like you could be there on-stage with Steven Tyler and Axel Rose (until you get out of easy mode :rofl. I reccomend this game for anyone who loves to rock, has a sense of humor, or just wants to have real fun while playing a game.
Buy it.
