As much as I love achievements, I love solid gameplay more. Achievements can sell a game to me, but terrible ones won't turn me off of one.

No, I'm 100% serious. I think it's a good thing they put genuine Achievements in here, as in these are things that will take a worthy effort to actually achieve, and will be worth talking about when you have it.
I don't grab random people on the street and say, "Oy! I got all thousand points off Beowulf," but you can bet the second I 200/200'd Mega Man 9, I would be telling everyone, "yeah, i beat that new mega man game. it took a while. the last guy was hard." and we would all magickally poof backwards 20 years.

Rev, I'm with you on this. This is something that can be construed as a personal challenge to my Mega Man abilities. I abused that series as a child and got damn good at it.
I'm telling you, though...it's going to be extremely difficult. I demoed this out in Los Angeles, and only had access to two stages.
I didn't get through either one.

I'm actually a little surprised to see people so worked up about these achievements. I grew up playing the original MegaMan series religiously. My brother and I would beat each of them over and over and then make up new ways to go through the game (without dying, without continuing, speed runs, without taking damage, etc.). It was another way to make the games more enjoyable. Achievements before there were achievements per se. Most Mega Man fans are used to playing like this. These achievements while not simple are far from being unreasonable. I look forward to having enjoyable achievements for another amazing MegaMan game.

cause i use to play games for fun. i mean yea id challenge myself and try to get some achievements, but otherwise i did..then i was in a race (a tad unfairly the outcome) which truly got me into wanting the achievements and to 1K a game. and my motivation for halo 3 is that some achievements unlock armor. and the armor looks cool. and the armor could motivate me to do better in like LW or whatever, which might get me my achievements =D to get my security/katana armor

NO! again i only go after all the acheivements in a game if i really like the game and purchase it. You see my gamerscore comes from simply play testing many games. Of course when I play a game to try it out some achievements are going to unlock. if I where truely in it for the gamerscore i would have played sports games but since I have no interest in sports (and my gamercard is proof) I have yet to play a single sports game ^_^
Look getting achievements is fine and in games like HALO 3 where you get an added bonus or 2 for getting achievement then it is worth it to go out your way and do things u may not like to get the reward but when the reward is only a score that amounts to all of nothing really then i say why bother forcing yourself to waste your time playing a game if you are not having fun? Remember when FUN was the purpose for playing?
