3 red lights, the eternal saga

Well i am on my 7th and 8th 360\'s.

7, \"petey\", has a dying dvd drive, with lots of fun freezing and disc errors to be had!

and 8, \"veronica\", has joined the ranks of so many other boxes, with a lovely display of red lights.

Luckily, i know how to fix these bastards better than microsoft, lol. I was up all night, taking apart veronica. In the end, she seems to be alive again. Attempting to run ASSASSins creed, she froze, but i think shes just getting used to her new pants, i mean, parts.

I want a 9th box now.

Anyone else feel the pain as of late?

Wow. I don't know if I've been lucky or I'm just tolerant. I've had the same 360 since December 2005. She's had her problems but I've just kind of accepted them. She'll go through phases where she freezes a lot, or where she'll randomly open the disc tray in the middle of the game. The phases pass though. The only consistent problem is the damaged disc tray that sometimes needs some coaxing to get it to expose itself.

I am on my fourth 360, after all the trouble of dealing with Xbox returns dept. I don't blame you for doing your own repairs. Kudos.

im still on my first box which i got the first week 360 was unveiled.
so im lucky.
and il b happy to take assassins creed off ur hand since its probly just taunting you since you cant play it lol

I'm on my 4th or is it 5th 360. But some of those is because I just can't go more than 2 days without playing. So when my first system went down, I was a real bitch at work that week. It only took 8 days to get it fixed and back to me. When that one puked, everyone at work groaned, and my boss tried to make me take a week off work. My wife went to stay at her moms. Even my dog stayed away. This was not going to work. So I bought a core system and all was well. My co-workers stoped ploting to have me shot and the wife came back home. The dog took a few more days, but he to got over it. Since then the core died and the premium broke for the 3rd time. But my wife knew what to do. When I got home that night there on the coffee table was a brand new Elite. WOOOOO What a women, she knows what makes me tick. I thanked her over and over again that night. So she was happy to. I had the other ones plus 2 that I bought for 20 bucks fixed and sold them each for 250.00 bucks. I kept the core since they replaced it with a new one with HDMI. So I'm all set for now.

i dont know anyone who has had as many boxes as me. i have deal, wheeled and feeled (lol?) my fair share..

veronica is being a bitch. shes stable, no freezing, 3RODing, but once every handful of times she locks up going to the dashboard and gives an E64. I read up on 64 and it said it was a DVD error. WTF.

Oh well, just gotta finish assassins creed already and take the top spot in nevada. watch out, chaingangsoldir!

My friends 7th Xbox got the three red rings of death yesterday. He is understandably very upset. After calling microsoft repairs they basically told him they have no record of his past repairs but will send him a new box in 20 days... This is unbelievable, not only is the system they make less reliable than an old nes or snes .... now they are not keeping track of back history repairs. So the next time my box breaks and I tell them it's the fifth time to happen... they won't believe me.

Btw my friend is quitting Xbox and getting a P3, and I for one don't blame him.

you're obviously a dumbass, imo. i havent done anything out of the ordinary with any of my boxes. all have been well ventilated, horizontally placed, power brick off the ground and plugged in a power strip. dont know how to treat it any better than that honestly. i think the first couple were victims of a bad/failing power brick, but the last couple have just been bad luck. you have nearly 1/6th the gamerscore I have, point in case, i've played alot more 360 than you. dont be dumb. *smacks captainmayhem with a rolled up newspaper*

just cus u have a higher gamerscore dun mean uv played longer.
im not really into achievements. and iv had my 360 since the first week they all came out and mine still works.

you can't even spell. obviously, I have played it more. i know for certain I have a greater techinal understanding of the system and its inner workings. I've personally brought five 360's back from the dead. No question about it, there are definite manufacturing defects in the 360.

Apple ibooks suffer from the same problem.

Sword fighting aside, value your luck with the system, as the rate for fail is undeniably very high.

Just because i don't feel like typing out perfect English does not mean i cant spell.
That is only your opinion.
I am not saying that the 360 is not flawed the 360 has a LOT of bugs in it.
And your not the only one to bring back some 360's death. So don't go making assumptions all on your own.
And you can reply to this and try to offend me further i will not start an argument over this. arguments are pointless especially over the internet.
