I have been locked out of my LIVE account for a while. I finally noticed that I got several deposits of 120 pts, what I can only assume is my rewards points. Unfortunately, they removed my existing 800 points, so it was correct at 920 pts.

I had 1400 points placed in my account by accident. I didn't mess with it because I figured MS would do something like this. They had it corrected quickly; it's not like the points sat around in your account for a month before they noticed and took them away. If they have a credit card on file for your account, they can definetly charge it to make up their loss from the mistake. If you add your points strictly by the MS point cards, they are just gonna flag your account to take away the points as soon as you add them to make up their loss. If you have another gold account on your xbox, you could just use the other account to DL everything you want.

I'm not going to curse anyone's financial future because they capitalized on a mistake someone else made.....so I'll be giving everyone else who disagrees with that my undivided attention.

Ok, so now we've heard that they will, and wont do anything to those of us who are shady and spent the points.
It would be nice if Microsoft themselves would post something...

http://www.neowin.net/news/glitch-gives-some-xbox-360-owners-free-microsoft-points
The Xbox Live Rewards program has been set up by Microsoft to give Xbox 360 owners a way to get extra Microsoft Points if you do things like renew your Xbox Live Gold membership or take part in special promotions. However on Thursday night, some Xbox 360 owners discovered that the Xbox Live Rewards system gave them some extra points that they had not earned. As reported by Computer and Video Games, thousands of Microsoft Points were delivered via a glitch in the system. The origin of the glitch has yet to be revealed.
Some Xbox 360 owners reportedly went ahead and spent their extra Microsoft Points. Others did the right thing and contacted Microsoft's Xbox customer service on fears that their credit cards might have been hacked. The official Twitter page for Xbox Support gave some contradictory info on whether or not people who spend those Microsoft Points would have those purchases recalled. However, Microsoft is now telling those who already spent the extra points that they will get to keep their items, only the points that haven't been spent yet have been recalled.
As we mentioned the Xbox Live Rewards program is designed to give active Xbox 360 owners some extra incentives for their activities. For example, people who renew their Xbox Live Gold membership for a full year will receive 200 Microsoft points, with lower amounts given out to people who renew for a shorter amount of time.

I'd like to thank circumstance for all the ME2 DLC and Gunstar Heroes, and I'd like to thank my copious amounts of swag for keeping me safe.
