Ubisoft - DRM "You have to be online to Play."
Ubisoft has announced during a meeting with Gamespy a new DRM (Digital Rights Management) for upcoming games. Now when you purchase a game and play it you have to be connected online which phones back to Ubisoft before giving you permission to play. No online connection? Then you're out of luck picking up some of the newest Ubisoft titles.
Though this isn't set to hurt a large number of individuals, this will harm most consumers who aren't connected or experience internet difficulties. The new DRM is supposed to help keep Ubisoft game piracy on the low. Brent Wilkinson, Director, Customer Service and Production Planning at Ubisoft, thinks you'll like this decision. "We think most people are going to be fine with it. Most people are always connected to an Internet connection."
