*HOURS* to recover a gamertag? Seriously? because I have friends come over all the time and do recovery...and it takes like *maybe* 5 minutes...
I can assure you it takes hours the bigger the tag. For only like 83MB mine takes like 2 and a half to three hours to recover. I can download 83 MB in like a minute or two....

This.
Mine is only 68mb, and it takes right on 2 hours to pull down now. I assume it has something to do with the terribad levels of security MS has consoles going through to be authenticated via the XBL servers. I mean, how incredible is it that Live still hasn't really been hacked?? Anyway, it used to take half a day to pull down a profile as big as mine or larger, and it takes a lot less time now, although still far more time than it ought given the minimum 5mbps down you need to even get on Live.

One thing this will do is make it more convenient for game savers!!
Xbox live is pretty good about popping those who game save, I'm sure that aspect is something that they wouldn't really concern themselves with.

My recoveries take hours also. I try not to do it unless I absolutely have to.

I don't see why flash drives are considered some huge pain in the ass. they're just a few seconds of inconvenience.
I'm with you. It is the only reason I bought one of the old white 360 memory cards in the first place. Is it really that hard to move your profile on a flash drive, plus whatever game saves you want to take with you? When I go so a buddy's house and take my flash drive I don't feel the need to take every single game save with me.

Evol had to recover his tag a while ago and it was around 2 hours. It sucked!!!
My Profile is about 36 MB, and it only takes about 5 Minutes to Download
