The only thing I see use for in recording gaming videos. I have 2 dvr's already for tv. I have cable with a bonus package so I have no need for the TV apps. I have internet so I have no need for youtube, facebook or twitter. Just make a quality console that doesn't break down after a year

They are just trying to create a monopoly. Why turn your Xbox off to check the score on the football game or watch two dudes beat the hell out of eachother when you can do it all on your Xbox. It makes perfect sense to me.
um...yeah....no they aren't. They are not stealing customers from other TV providers or anything like that. They are working along these providers to expand there coverage in a way of speaking.

I understand why Microsoft is pumping all these apps and features into the X-Box, and it makes sense to make a one-stop destination for everything. However my question is whether the X-Box hardware is ready for this? I mean they keep adding new things to the X-Box in attempts to keep us on the device longer, but can the device handle this without burning out?
That is why all these big ideas they are saving for the next gen console. So they can make sure it is able to operate all of this stuff.
But anyway, I like the idea of the console also being used as a DVR. As far as them bringing all of these apps and Live TV to my "gaming console", I think they are more trying to fine tune the gaming console into an entertainment console so you don't have to change the input on your TV anymore, less wires = happiness to me, lol.

The only thing is that you know Microsoft isn't going to give you the "TV" services for free we all know they charge for anything and everything. So in that case I would rather just stick with the DVR I have and the service that is provided.

Oh look, more yammering about the next gen of xbox.
THe DVR thing is pretty meh.

I know, right? Who would have thought a forum thread would actually have a discussion about the thread title's topic? Fucking crazy world we live in these days.
Not what nor how I meant it. I was talking about the contents in their entirety. It's a bit grating hearing more and more about a next gen 360. I really don't want to have to replace my console so soon. Especially when they gave up on backwards compatibility with the current generation.

THAT I agree with. But then again, they only raise prices so they can be able to bring us the different music, and tv/movie apps. Which, most/some don't really need if they have there own cable or satellite provider. So yeah, you are right.
But, as for the TV...they won't charge for using there TV app. If you have comcast or infinity or whatever, you just use the app that XBOX is going/will have and just continue paying for your regular tv services...You're just able to able to watch it on the XBOX as well, lol. It's just like Netflix basically.
But like I said, I agree with you, I don't really like how they keep jacking up the prices for xbox live, but I understand why they are doing it. As long as they keep on bringing us cool services like they are (imo) then I don't mind it as much. But this has been the first time (that I remember) that they have raised prices for xbox live, and they didn't jack it up too too much.

I might be interested if DirectTV were to get on board and if you can use it along with the DVR in your cable/satellite box. I would just load it up with movies and use the DVR on my box just for all the damn TV show timers I have.

I love the ESPN app because I can watch UGA games that would normally be on PPV since I live in TN

I like the new stuff. I don't use it a lot, but it's nice to have when I do. I also think the new dashboard is sweet, so easy to use and find everything. As long as things continue to run smooth and don't get bogged down and laggy then they can add what ever they want.
As far as price goes, I just saw online 12 month cards going for 39.99 just last week. Amazon I think...not sure. Anyway you can find deals if you look. Looking forward to E3 and info on Xbox Next...or what ever!!!

My primary concern is the games. That's why I have an Xbox. To play games. Look at what the ability to record your games has done for Call of Duty... Lag compensation issues left and right, which many associate with the record your games feature.
Imagine what it will do to your connection if the Xbox itself is actually recording other stuff in the background while you are playing.
That's my concern. Right there. Nice idea to an extent, but the execution has to be perfect. It would help if we lived in a Fios world, too, but we don't.
