Sony Would Love for MS to Convert to Blu-Ray

News | September 11, 2007 1:00 pm
Sometime last week a Sony Pictures Executive has been quoted as saying he'd enjoy seeing Microsoft and Toshiba jump on the good ship Blu-Ray. Don Eklund has been quoted as saying "Toshiba can't keep dropping prices much more. It maybe a strategy for fighting a format war, but for us it has to be profitable."

They need to combine blu ray and HD DVD into one singular type of disc. Blu Ray has massive size, while HD-DVD has some other component that I can't remember atm which gives better quality. If they were to find a happy medium between the two, and say work TOGETHER, they would make double the profit because the public only has a singular choice of what to buy for the Next-Gen disc.
