Halo 3 Heroic Map Pack now available

Major Nelson brings word that the Halo 3 Heroic Map Pack is now available for download. The pack contains three new maps (Standoff, Rat's Nest and Foundry) and is available to download for 800 points. Otherwise, you can wait until Spring 2008 when the map pack will eventually become free.


First Halo 3 Downloadable Content Arrives as Heroic Map Pack Hits Xbox 360

Award-winning multiplayer experience evolves with three new maps now available on Xbox LIVE Marketplace

The international award-winning Halo 3 gets even better as the Halo 3 Heroic Map Pack launches today on Xbox 360s Xbox LIVE Marketplace. After launching to incredible acclaim and fanaticism, more than five million Halo 3 players worldwide can now enjoy a package of three all new multiplayer maps. The Heroic Map Pack is the first in a series of downloadable content from Bungie Studios.

Available for 800 Microsoft Points exclusively on Xbox LIVE Marketplace, each map offers a unique experience. Standoffs symmetrical valley, with its entrenched bases and fields of boulders is ideal for mid-sized objective and Slayer game types, while Rats Nests vast, labyrinthine passages bring something new to the Halo multiplayer experience: an indoor vehicle paradise, strongly influenced by the Campaign mode, ideal for big team battles. Finally, Foundry is the ultimate Forge map players can edit every single object in this voluminous industrial warehouse, place stairways, walls, bridges and tunnels to create an entirely new play space and build almost any kind of map they can think of.

As if the legions of "Halo 3" players needed more reasons to stay logged on to Xbox LIVE and fragging, Forge also allows players to edit and customize all three maps, keeping Halo 3s multiplayer experience fresh, exciting and evolving. In addition, ongoing updates to Halo 3s matchmaking playlists ensure that ranked and social gameplay remains dynamic and competitive.

The maps of the Heroic Pack are available in matchmaking today to those who have purchased the download. All three maps will become available as a free download via Xbox LIVE Marketplace in Spring 2008, just prior to the next wave of all new Halo 3 multiplayer maps.

havent had halo 3 in my 360 since i got my last achievement and i like the game just cant stand running along....ohhh look theres a guy start shooting at him...start getting close to him then boom betrayed by a grenade...happens all the time to those lovely kids that cant stop throwing grenades so i went back to gears cause i still need seriously and im like 4.4k kills aways and i got like 400 last night so if i keep up my ballin in gears ill have that gamer pic everyone has to have if your a gear head...ohh and i wont spend another dime on halo until halo wars

I bought em, there were 50,000 people in the DLC playlist last night, so if you get them you'll have plenty of company. My one complaint is one that carries over from the original content maps. The spawn system in Halo 3 is just straight terrible, especially on Foundry and Stand Off, the number of times i spawned and was immediatley shot is amazing. But the best example i can give is when i was on the top level on Foundry, and 3 members of the other team spawn on the ground almost directly underneath me, all i need say is "triple kill" I felt bad doing it, but it had been done to me all night, so whatever.

That seems to be a recurring problem among recent games. Call of Duty 4's spawn mechanism is a bitch. That's my number one complaint with the game, but it's not game breaking.

i kind of like the spawning system in cod4. ive spawned a few times with a bunch of enemies near me. i pulled the trigger first XD. i just hate spawning far away and then having to walk all the way back to the battle.
