@Taco Thank you. I feel essentially the same way. It's just that the past few years, I have seen more and more people start trash talking a lot of consoles, games, media, etc.
I believe your definition would go well along with mine. Here is an elaboration of my definition. I love cars, I have raced for 8 years with my cousin (on an actual circuit). My cousin and uncle LOVE cars and racing. Now if you go up to them and ask them about the new Ford Pinto (there is not one, but hopefully you will get where I am coming from), they would be ecstatic to have a discussion with you about it. They would go into an hour long thesis on Ford, Pinto, cars in general, the economy, and anything else. To me, they are hardcore car enthusiast. Mind you that they strongly dislike Ford, yet they still get extremely excited over the general subject that it is a car. The first words out of their mouth is not "Wow, that is a Ford! It will fail!." or "Chevy is better. Let's talk about that."
I love food. I am a large food enthusiast as well as a insane gamer fan boy. I could talk to you for hours about the differences between a Big Mac and a Whopper. Now, both of these are fairly unexciting, but they are both food. It is my passion and I completely enjoy having conversations about food.
To me a casual gamer is someone who buys a game just because they feel like it. No special reason except maybe they heard about it or they just wanted a new game. They would be like the person who would say a Big Mac is just a sandwich or that a Lamborghini is JUST a fast car. To me, all works of games, food, and cars are works of art. Someone created these items. I love your definition, but I just had one little issue with it. That person that stays up all night playing that game. It could just end up being one game or just one genre. It's great that you LOVE Halo and all you can think about is Halo, but these people are losing the larger picture. There is an entire universe to explore out there with millions of different games. A hardcore gamer (in my opinion) could talk about the worst game out there like it is the 'Next Big Thing', because they love games.
Also, thank you Taco. I believe your post was the first one that did not just state the obvious and made a wonderful reply to my post. I 'try' to take a lot of time on my post. This is a passion of mine and I love when I see people get into a conversation like they feel the same! Thank you.
