But is there a certain connector. Point of reference I'm talking about the first model hdd. But I was thinking yesterday articles published with info are a double edged sword. It alerts those who don't know about this problem so they can fix it, but it alerts those that have this knowledge that they can abuse it.

To connect your hard drive to your computer, if you don't have a transfer cable, you have to take it out of the plastic case. Since that voids its warranty, and if GameStop notices they won't take the HD, you're better off not selling it. It makes sense... You don't sell bags of your old mail, either. If it has personal information, you can never be sure it's safe. Definitely it's not worth the risk.
