All I know is that everyone I've talked to that had the intercooler had their 360 die faster because of it. The whole idea of the intercooler is flawed and IMHO was just a quick money scheme by Nyko but I'm not suprised as I've never been really impressed with any of their products.
Having interviewed both Nyko and Microsoft insiders and executives (and having one installed on my 360 since they first came out), I can assure you that the Intercooler is not an Xbox 360 killer by any means. The power supply of the Intercooler draws very little power from the 360 and certainly not enough to cause it t melt to the 360 chassis or cripple the 360. It also does not void the warranty because you are using it. There is a clause in the warranty about modifying the Xbox 360, and this is what the people that dislike the Intercooler or the phone reps that know nothing may claim as the reason it invalidates the warranty. It doesn't.
the bottom line with this device is that people either love it or hate it and will say anything (or make up anything) about it both ways. If you have not experienced one first hand, I would suggest not making statements on it based on other peoples opinion. It does what it was designed to do, and that is increase the airflow through the 360 and reduce the amount of heat build up inside. It isn't a scam or a quick money scheme, it is a legitimate product that does work.
