Yay, TVS!

I tried finding a general TV thread, but didn't see any except for a few archived ones, sooo:

I'm buying a new TV on Friday, and I am trying to decide. Ironically, I have one of each, LCD, LED, and Plasma picked out. Was just looking for people who had experience with LEDs/Plasmas + gaming, and see if I could get any suggestions for which to buy. I've looked at all 3 of them in the store, and they are all super pretty. However, none of them had 360s hooked up, and that's my main concern.

Anyway, here are the three contenders:

Samsung 46" 1080p 120hz LCD HDTV

Samsung 46" 120hz 1080p LED HDTV

Samsung 51" 1080p 3D Plasma HDTV

PS, my previous TV experience if it matters is a 26" Westinghouse LCD (720p) HDTV and a 32" Vizio LCD (1080p) HDTV, which is what I'm using now.

PPS, there's a slight change the 51" might absolutely rape my wall because my room is kind of small, so I may not be able to handle it haha.

I would go with the 46" LCD personally. Mine is a Phillips and it is a little bigger but LCD is great for gaming. I've had mine 3 years now and it looks as good as it did the day I took it out of the box.

anything LED is the bomb. fuck plasma. Samsung 46" 120hz 1080p LED HDTV is my vote. and it's 1080p. :yes:

Really, my only suggestion would be to stay away from the Plasma. I have never really heard good things, other then the picture is good. But when it comes to repairs sometimes it is better to just buy a brand new one. I think the average life is a couple of years, my friend has one and that sounds about right but I can't really say 100%.

It used to be hard to find an LED TV for under $1,500, I have always wanted one. The picture on the LED's that I have looked at though have been amazing, really crisp. BUT, I have a 46in LG LCD and love it. So like I said, my only suggestion would be to steer clear of the Plasma TV's.

I would go with the LED also, 1080P and 120HZ, can't go wrong with that one!

LED will last the longest and have the best picture quality.

Just remember the old saying, "You get what you pay for". Probably the most useful thing to keep in mind when TV shopping.

Well my budget is about a grand. I thought about going +400 for the 240hz version of the LED tv, but I just can't afford it right now, but I really do need the TV.

The LED is my favorite by far, my supervisor just found the plasma and wanted me to at least take a look at it.

Personally, I have a Samsung 46" LCD 1080p and absolutely love it. I got it last March and have pretty much no complaints about it.

If you have the dough, definitely go with the LED as those are the best right now. Otherwise, stick with the LCD.

I know it's not really a big issue anymore but as a core gamer I'm terrified of burn-in and so I stay away from plasma's. Hope that helps.

P.S. I ordered mine off Amazon and had Pilot Shipping. It arrived the day it was supposed and the guy offered to help unbox it so I could inspect it before accepting it. I got a great deal, 2 year financing, and no tax which were 3 pretty good bonuses.

Well I think I'm going to end up getting the LED television tomorrow. It's the one I like the best, and I think the specs are good enough for gaming on. I've heard a few things about lag issues on LEDs sometimes, so I am just hoping that this one is fine. I'm super excited!

Too bad I won't be getting a mount until sometime next week, after I get the remainder of my furniture to see how high it needs to be.

Well, I had to run around to find it, as my store decided to go out of stock today. Had to drive to another BB, which I scoffed at it because it was ugly compared to my store, but I ended up with the LED tv.

I'm pretty excited to set it up tomorrow or Saturday!
