Last week it was just the 4gb model that had the gift card. Then it changed to the 4gb Kinect model. I'm expecting that it will cycle through the other two models next week and the week after.
As far as a small model goes, a buddy of mine had a 4gb and couldn't install DLC or play Reach or Xbox originals. So he found out that you can take an old hard drive and take it out of the plastic casing, and the Slim will recognize it as an Xbox HDD. He put in his old 20gb HDD and now it works great. So I'm probably going to buy a HDD for the original 360 and then use that in the Slim.

Nice. I bought 2 slim models, and for anyone interested in taking some advice, pony up the cash and get the 250gb and stay away from the 4gb version.
