Windows Phone advice

I've never had a cell phone before and was looking into getting a WP for my first, mainly for the phone and achievement part.

This new Nokia Lumia looks pretty awesome and I've heard some good things.. what do you guys think would be a good entry point?

It's all personal preference. Pick a phone you think you'll be happy with not because someone else says it is good or bad.

Agreed. Personally I would NEVER go back to At&t but I guess thats a personal preference too.

I have the HTC Trophy through Verizon & I really like it, but that doesn't mean you will.

I agree 100%. I love my HD7 but not sure they make it anymore

I played with the Lumia a bit at work when we first received our live demo, it's a pretty neat little phone. I personally love my iPhone, and everyone I know who has one seems to love them. Like previously stated, a lot of it is personal preference.

Lumias are the biggest and best windows phones... it does come down to the company providing the service. But WPhones are fun to have!

I had an HD7. It just broke last week. (not the phone's fault, FYI) I decided that instead of replacing it, I'd get the Nokia Lumia. So far I am in love with this phone! It makes my HD7 look like an asshole. Side by side, the screen of the Lumia instantly distances itself from its cousin with a beautifully color saturated and drastically brighter display that even Helen Keller would notice right away! Lol

Also, the difference between 3G and 4G LTE is worlds apart. The rest of the WP functionality is there, the way MS wants it. Facebook, YouTube, Zune, Xbox Live, etc. integration is all there!

Another good thing is the price point. $99 with contract is a pretty good deal for a brand new 4G phone, so it really is a good entry level phone!

I haven't had mine for very long, so I can't really tell you any downsides. If you are set on wanting a Windows Phone, the Lumia 900 is pretty much a sure thing.

I only upgraded phones because the mister ran his over. Actually I ran it over by accident. He didn't want to upgrade, so he took mine and I got a new one. I wish I'd have gotten a windows phone, but it was a rush decision and i didnt research it enough. Now I want him to upgrade to a windows phone and swap with me, or at least let me play games on it.

Neither, actually.

If you go into a store and walk out with a smartphone, it's going to cost you like- $600. So to lock people into their service, phone companies offer huge discounts if you sign a contract with them for 2 years. If you agree to have service through AT&T for 2 years, they give you a $600 phone for $99. So you'll pay $99 for the phone, then $80 a month, or whatever your plan costs, for the next 24 months.

So buy one without a plan off eBay, set it up for your gamertag and just use it for XBL. Easy as that. No monthly fee or anything. It also won't make calls (except 911) or text.

Wouldn't you still need a plan to download the games, and connect to the internet to access XBL?
