Is this best team in a year, best core team over a few years or best all time franchise?
Best team in a year might be the '99 Rams and/or of course the undefeated Dolphins.
Best core team over a time period could be the early 90's Bills (they may have lost 4 Superbowls, but they went to 4 in a row for Christ's sake!), 80's 49ers, 70's Steelers, or 2000's Pats to name a few.
Best all time franchise? I'd go Browns, Packers, Steelers or Cowboys.

Until Bilichick proves he can win a title without cheating (Spygate) then the early 2000s Patriots don't deserve to mentioned in the same breath as teams that have won multiple titles like the 70's Steelers or Cowboys and the 80's 49ers. If I had to choose one it would be the Paul Brown/Otto Graham led Cleveland Browns who won 7 championships in 10 years (and were in the title game 2 of those other 3 years) including the undefeated 12-0 team in 1948.

2000's Patriots. 3 Superbowls in 4 years, plus a trip in '07 and a trip Sunday. Although they didn't quite go undefeated in 2007 (18-1), they still won the most games in an NFL regular season/post season EVER (undefeated Dolphins went 17-0). The records (Brady, Moss in 07, Gronk in 11). One of the greatest coaches and greatest QB's of all time. And then there's Gronk...

This is too hard of a thing to judge.... (twss).
are we talking one year? the whole history? or just an era?
But anywho... id say the 85 Bears or the 62 Packers.

98 Vikings...if Gary Anderson couldve made that FG they IMO they would've beat the Broncos.
Its hard to match the older teams vs newer teams bcuz while they were tougher individually, I think the training and off season conditioning of this generation of players that there are a few teams that could beat the 72 Dolphins.
In European football....2010/11 Barcelona

Besides, 3 of those 7 championships and 2 championship game losses to the Lions were after the merger. Despite what espn would lead you to believe, they played championship games before they started calling it the Super Bowl.

Regular Season Record (all-time) : 414-365-9
That's a .525 win pct. How can you call a team that's barely .500 the best of all time
