for the best of all time, i would have to go with the arcade games.... the best game was samurai showdown 2 by neo geo. Arcades have gone the way of the dinosaur, which is sad, i grew up in various arcades. when i do come across one here and there, i still get the same feeling i had when is was young, nothing will compare to video arcades....ever

For me its....
Shenmue.
I was round 6,7, or maybe even 8 when i first played it. Before Shenmue, games didn't really "mean" that much. I didnt understand their stories...so games to me were just "shoot everybody" or "go there, and do this....because i said so" LOL. But Shenmue was the first time i actually paid full on attention to the story (which was a fuckin beast story), fell in love with the characters, and actually felt like i HAD to beat this game.....and when i did....it blew my fucking mind.

Dragon Warrior VI for NES was my all time favorite, but there's no way I can claim it to be the best. I own it, but there's probably no way I'd play it now since it doesn't stack up against the games nowadays. It was revolutionary for its time, but it doesn't do anything now that every other RPG does in a flashier manner.
