waffle awards

I know AJ suggested something like this a while back....

I think his was about granting a platinum award for scores of 200,000 or more. I'm pretty sure there was mention of a choclate chip award as well.

My suggestion would be to grant awards in 25000 increments (which I believe we have up to a point to where it jumps to either 50 or 100 thousand). My example would be as follows but not necessarily in this order:

1) 25000- Burnt Waffle (no change here)
2) 50000- Eggo Waffle (a yellowish color, not gold though)
3) 75000- Cinnemon Waffle (a reddish brown)
4) 100000- Blueberry Waffle (a regular waffle with blue spots)
5) 125000- Chocolate Chip (same as above only with brown spots)
6) 150000- Strawberry Waffle (same with red spots)
For anything above 150,000 you could use the bronze, silver, gold, platinum thing.

The drawback would be the time and effort required to come up with the pictures. It would however grant folks more to strive for. 25000 points is easier to get then 50000. I may get laughed at or ignored for this idea but hey, I took a shot.

I was suprised when I searched for it and didn't find it. I typed in "platinum waffle" though and as I was writing the ideas just took off. I think I may have gotten ahead of myself on it

That's a damn good idea. It really gives people here an incentive to gain a higher gamerscore. I think it would let them take more pride in their accomplishments.

Going from yellow to red back to yellow would be confusing, maybe you could switch them.

Burnt, That hard but not quite burnt waffle (redish brown), normal yellow, ect.

The colors were just "what if" kinda examples. It was the idea of having more waffles of 25000 increments. If you wanted you could have a "Belgian Waffle" with the colors of Belgium's flag. The possibilties are endless.

It's a good idea that a lot of people have had, I just don't see this ever happening. It's even unlikely that a waffle for 200,000 will be made because, honestly, there's really no need for it. Not that many active posters even have that high of a gamerscore and one more award won't really make them more inclined to get there. It's great incentive but it's just more clutter when it comes to awards, which is why I think so little have been added.

Think about it, if all these new awards were being made and people were getting them so easily, that's another 50-150 items on a single page of a thread (not to mention if you have it set to 75 replies per page). Loads times would suffer and how many awards do people need?

If anything you should be happy that every milestone you hit you get 'another' waffle added to your award case. It could be the case that they just change, you start out with the burnt waffle at 25,000 but then when you hit 50,000 the burnt just changes to silver.

Just my thoughts.

Correct me if I'm wrong, and I'm not...but aren't you ready to pony up some cash to donate to get that next award? Something along the lines of filling your fourth bar.

If more awards come out we should do it as AJ says, it makes more sense.

But not just with the Waffle awards. If you have Master Marketer, you could remove the regular Marketer. Donation awards are the same. Just keep the highest one. Any stackable awards is what I mean.

Kind of how the Log in streak awards already are.

I was talking about more being added to the ones already available. People just want more because they can't get the ones they currently don't possess. Anyone can donate 100 bucks and have 4 awards right there or refer 10 people, there's two more. Not everyone can win 3 competitions, let alone one, write 10 news articles that get published, or get 200,000 gamerscore in their lifetime so they want more added for smaller milestones.

It wasn't long ago that someone suggested that we have an award for a thread with a certain number of views (when in reality you can just refresh the page on the thread over and over as high as you want). We all know how annoying it is seeing the same 4 people making thread after thread just for the stupid discussion sparker award.

So yea, you were wrong.

I say we let Jackson come up with the awards as he sees fit, it's worked so far.

It was just a suggestion. The idea of "stacking" makes sense too. AJ is right in that it would cause a lot of clutter (which makes the stacking idea brilliant). He is also right in that it would make awards more accessible to those who are unable to attain the other awards for whatever reason..... However, is that such a bad thing? It might be some incentive for those who are less active around here.
