I can't say I really know anything about video cards, but it appears it will, however maybe not quite as well as you'd want because the MacBook doesn't have a dedicated video card?

I don't believe there is a direct comparison. You may have to load the software to see if it works or not. If it doesn't, your screwed.

Hot damn! I just looked at the specs on that thing, what an overpriced POS. Only a 13.3" screen with max 1280x800? That vid card set-up looks to be a cost-cutting move. Those IBM chipsets has been criticized for not being able to handle graphically intensive task like gaming. Check out this article.

Looks like it will provide good video playback. Check out CRAPple's MacBook section, they completely downplay the graphics capabilities of this line of notebooks. Quite obvious to me that a company that constantly thumps its chest about superior graphics, they may not be willing to stick their neck out for an inferior piece of heir product.

For a base price of $1,300, looks like this thing is just pulling the wool over the eyes of the dedicated MAC fans.....

The MacBook is not meant for gaming. In no way is it a gaming notebook? You're the first person I've ever heard to call the MacBook an 'overpriced Piece of Shit.' Ouch. That's pretty brutal. With such an amazing operating system, excellent design and overall amazing performance for a notebook, I don't feel that falls into the 'Piece of Shit' category. The 13.3" screen is meant for portability. Most people who buy the macbook aren't looking to lug around any larger notebook than that.

Crapple? How juvenile can you be zoboa? Macs are definitely superior for graphic and video editing. The Macbook obviously not meant for professionals like that though.

Zapa seemed to be asking all kinds of questions about running WoW on it, and in this thread was looking for a Video card comp to what appears to be minimum requirements for software of some sort. Sounds like he was intending to use it for gaming to me......

Amazing operating system? amazing performance for a notebook? That is fanboy style talk Pasta. What it boils down to is can you buy a high quality notebook to do everything and more than a MacBook for less money, and the answer is yes. Apple computers are simply over priced, just like the other trinkets they sell.

Screen size is trending up my friend. 15.4" widescreen is the norm now, that screen is a full 2" less than standard, yet costs almost 20-30% more.

LOL I thought it was pretty Funny :D Based on the specs and the excessive price, this MacBook will not be great for neither graphics nor editing. I mean c'mon, $1,300 for what? Price gouging your loyal client base could prove to be fatal. Ask Sony how the PS3 sales are going.....

I'm not a professional by any means, but I have a family, house and two kids and $1,300 for a notebook that offers nothing more for the money than that little apple logo on the front is no better than Sony electronics.

Theres a difference between a machine being built for gaming, and someone intending to use it for gaming. Gaming on a notebook isn't cheap, and the macbook isn't meant for gaming. Can you game on it? Yes. Was it meant for optimal gaming performance? No.

I do not consider myself an Apple fanboy in anyway. I've only owned 1 apple computer, an iBook g4. I've been using a PC since I was first introduced to computers. That may only be 10 or so years, but all the same, I am in no way an Apple fan boy. However, I can't stand people who have such bias like you're showing. My posts tend to be biased in the opposite direction, because I try to prove the ignorant narrow minded individual to look past brand names and look at the actual product.

It's definitely a matter of opinion, but Mac OS X is just as a said, an amazing operating system. No other notebooks can brag of supporting Mac OS. If you prefer Windows XP or Vista over Mac OS then I suppose to you that wouldn't increase the value of the notebook.

None of those notebooks you could buy would boast the overall quality of the Macbooks. Little things like the MagSafe connectors, built in isight camera, or the illuminated keyboard of the MacBook Pro make Apple products stand out to people. I can see how they could be overpriced, but in now way is it extremely 'excessive.'

Please point out some of these laptops you mention though. I'd like to see how they're displays compare. I don't know enough about displays to defend the MacBooks display for the pricing without comparing it to alternative notebooks. From what experts say though, the MacBooks display and resolution are very good maximum value.

According to who? You? I read plenty of PC forums, and some apple forums. There are plenty of people who buy the MacBook over the MacBook Pro for the increased portability. Considering there is only a difference of .4 lbs between the two, it must be because of the size.

For example:

Quote by Techguy172:

I think you will be ok if you just use it on the couch but even then the dimensions are just so big my 15" im on right now is having trouble fitting in the chair im sitting in but it's all about prefrence if screen size outweighs the dimensions then get it.

Quote by pianoman:

i personally think the 17" notebooks are too big to use as a notebook. 15" is the maximum screen size i'd get for a notebook.

Source of quotes

For my needs, I'm with you, I'd prefer 15". I guess that screen wasn't intended for me. It was intended for people who want a smaller screen, which is no way out of the norm.

The price isn't as excessive as it claims to be. Read the reviews for the MacBook. There's no way you can claim that it would 'not be great for neither graphics nor editing.' My 12" iBook g4 w/ 1.2 GHz and iMovie is great for graphics and video editing. I hate using my PC for video editing, however, it does pretty well for graphics with Photoshop Elements.

Apple's 'loyal client base' doesn't seem to think that Apple is price gouging from what I've read.

I guess that's just your personal opinion, and nothing will sway you from it, but in my eyes... you're only seeing what you want to see.

LOL I love hot topic discussions! Nothing like a little MAC-PC battle to get the blood moving!

That stuff is just pimping out the machine, that me as a consumer feels am being forced onto the buyer, inflating the cost.

Well the MagSafe connectors shouldn't really add on to the cost much, they're just practical. I guess if you have no use for an isight camera, than you could be unhappy about that. The illuminated keyboard when it's dark is practical too.

I could definitely see if you didn't want an isight how it could just be inflating the price for you.

Lol, well being a computer tech I feel I have to add my opinion into the mix. I personally have nothing against Macs, they are great at what they do, the only problem with them is that is really all they do. Yes, I've heard the arguments about how macs are amazing with video editing and they are, but that's about all they can do, so if you don't want to do heavy video editing, then you pretty much have to work twice as hard to get anything work when compared to running it on a Windows machine. Mac has come a long way with OSX and now with the integration of the Intel processors, I can see big improvements over the Mac OS of yesteryear, but they still do not compare to the ease of doing anything with a PC. Poor Alzapa had to create a post to ask if his video card matched specs on his Mac, and I can say that I couldn't answer that. If it was a windows machine, I could say start-run-dxdiag-click ok and boom, there are in depth specs of your video card. They are very nice machines, but not even Mac owners can argue that they are sorely over-priced for what you are getting in terms of hardware. One reason is that the Mac OS is a lot lighter OS when compared to Windows. OSX runs great on 512MB, while Vista chugs a bit on 1GB. But it is true, Mac has always been overpriced for what you are basically getting. Even with iPods, you are basically paying for the name. I've seen MP3 players from Olympus, Samsung, Sanyo, and such that have double the space an iPod has, and are half the price. It is basically the name you are paying for.

Well, sorry to step in with my two cents, and unfortunatley none of us have been able to help poor zapa answer his question, lol. But, in reference, my answer to your question is....I don't know...

Here, check that out Zapa, sorry I can't be more help. It seems as if the Intel card matches the GeForce2 capabilities, even if it's only shared memory. As long as you have enough memory to keep the Video Card with 64MB and run whatever you need to run, you should be fine.
