Super Street Fighter IV Arcade Edition Finally Confirmed
Alright for everyone who don't know whats been going on from the start im going to go ahead and explain from the start.
First Street Fighter Yoshinori Ono tweeted that we should be expecting characters Yun and Yang to be added to the SSFIV roster (since the game was already out its safe to assume them to be DLC). Later it was leaked through achievement tiles that we would also receive Evil Ryu and Oni presumably through the same update when we get Yun and Yang.

Sometime after Super Street Fighter IV AE hit the arcade scene in Japan and few arcades in the US got their hands on one themselves. After this update in the game Daigo Umehara , famous Street Fighter player announced that he was dropping Ryu for Yun, in his defense and many other pro players it seems projectile characters got a massive nerf. Though I wouldn't want label this as tier whoring no matter how much it may seem, though it does make sense to want to play a character who has a larger amount of good matchups then bad matchups, Yun is pretty top tier but not the very best to my knowledge anyway. Ok enough of the technicalities that most people here probably don't care about .
After SSFIV AE being release to the Arcade scene Ono explained in an interview that SSFIV AE was purposely made unbalanced and the purpose of it wasn't for competitive play but to give players more so a goal by adding broken characters, assuming to motivate them to strive for higher heights then usual. With that interview it was also revealed that Ono had no plans for a SSFIV AE/
At this point i am needless to say baffled. We have achievement leaks for the DLC characters ... it would be stupid to not give it to console players despite it being broken as hell (according to most players anyway). So now we have been given new confirmation from Ono himself that the characters will indeed be coming to consoles as DLC.

The update from SSFIV to SSFIV AE will cost $15 (1200 MSP), with the update you are getting a balance patch to the game and 4 DLC characters ... and achievements. To some this may be a waste but to those who play seriously in the fighting game scene this is a pretty big deal and a long waited DLC to come. It was also leaked that the game will also be available in the form of a optional Retail Disc at the price of $40 (just like SSFIV original price upon release), now before i get complaints about this disc release being stupid id like to point out that this is no different then a GOTY edition of any other game that was released and even doing the math with Gamestop prices, SSFIV is currently 24.99 used and 29.99 new so it definitely equals out and actually saves $5 for those who don't own SSFIV as of yet. I'm actually VERY happy they did an optional retail disc as this helps with Tournaments much easier than trying to gather a large amount of consoles with the DLC on it.
After this update it was also announced that EVO 2011 officially switched SSFIV to SSFIV AE in the line up for the tournament in July.
The DLC will arrive on the Marketplace on June 7th and the Retail Disc will be released weeks after on June 24th.
