XBA Community! I have a question. I have never bought a single strategy guide and in this achievement whoring age we live in I want to know what you guys think about them. The one that I want was all sealed up so I couldn't check it out (Dragon Age 2), I am just curious if they have achievement walkthroughs as well.
If you have guides or bought guides in the past, let me know if they are worth the $20 or so.
I bought a few there nothing real special. Google will help you just as much as the guide. On the other hand haveing all the information in the same place plus developer tips is nice.

man. i haven't used a guide book since the days of Pokemon Ruby. I never owned any guides myself. But i used a few for Pokemon and Zelda games and such.. Theres really very little point if all you're interested in is achievements. Even with collectables, a few months after a game comes out, theres usually a pretty good collectables guide or map available on the internet for FREE.

The only guides I ever bought was for like Pokemon cause it would tell you when shit would evolve and learn new moves. Now I just use the internet like everyone else to save 20 dollars

I guess I just wish that I could actually open them up and look at them before I purchase them. The new ones are all shrink wrapped so I can't even get a solid idea of what I am going to get for my money.
Also have noticed that there are not very many used ones for sale either. That is another reason I asked. Because it seems like the people that buy them usually hold on to them.

Look around on Half.com or amazon.com for used copies. Only rarely will you not find a strategy guide for whatever game you are looking for.

In the case of a FPS, I wouldn't buy a guide.
