There are easier ways to lose weight without having to drink liquids all day. That doesn't even sound good. If nothing else just eat fruit bowls. Just throw grapes, strawberries, bananas, oranges, and anything else into a bowl and eat that. Then another main thing is cardio. Cardio will help alot more than diet. Get a treadmill or elliptical and have at it. 30 minutes to a hour. You can still eat things but you just have to be smart about what and how much.

I agree! The idea is to burn more calories than you intake. Don't drop from a 2000 calorie a day diet to 500! Find a way to burn 1500 more calories a day. Your metabolism needs to "exercise." Your body doesn't want to eat itself and will slow your metabolism to stop it from happening. That's why people who starve themselves for months to lose 30 lbs. end up gaining twice that much back after they stop.

Cardio and a sensible diet are the way to go here. Swimming is a near perfect form of exercise. It works every area of your body including your heart, and burns a lot of calories without the impact of jogging or running.

Tom is spot on here. You need to train your body, not deteriorate it away.

Fully support your decision to enlist.

Partially support your weight loss approach. Having recently dropped about 18lbs. and gotten back to a weight that I have not seen in over 15 years, this is what worked for me. It may or may not work for you, but I find it hard to believe a normal human can feel satisfied with a liquid diet.

Cardio every day. 30 minutes one day and 60 minutes the next. At my age and weight that's 300 calories in 30 and 650 or so in an hour. I watch pre-recorded TV shows and use an elliptical trainer. An hour goes by very quickly and painlessly. If the weather is nice, then I change it up with a session at the skate park.

Diet wasn't changed much other than to try to stick to a reasonable portion size and get all eating for the day done by 6pm. I also buy less crap when I'm at the store to limit temptation. I'll grab a few pretzels now instead of a Snickers. Sure I still attend the pizza buffet with the family and go overboard, but that's the exception now and not the norm.

Good Luck Bro. Get that metabolism kick started again with some exercise and you'll be slimming down in no time.

And you can pee while doing it! :p

Good luck though, Kidd. Hope you make it!
