I don't really think there's any reason to close this thread down. It's going back and forth like any heated sports debate. Nobody's going insane or anything. There's not really any personal attacks other than Mr. Knight's tired homoerotic allusion to me engaged in devious acts with sports figures. I'm not crying about it, so I don't think moderation is called for.

Thinking of Jerry Rice in any uniform but a 49ers one still makes me shudder.
Don't forget the Seahawks! It still bothers me that he even asked to have Steve Largent's number unretired.
Also, it's funny that you bring up Marino and Sanders as I was just talking about them and Bo Jackson at work last night! lol

Yeah, Barry was a one of a kind. Old Barry Sanders is probably as good as many young running backs!

I went 0-4 on picks this weekend, I'm at a loss for words. My Cowboys are out of the picture and my backup team, the Ravens are too. I guess I'm cheering for the Saints now as Drew Brees used to play for my high school.

Thank GOD the cowboys lost that was the only thing I wanted to happen. Vickings are gonna get smashed next week and so will the Jets.

If a rookie (The Jets QB) wins the SB. I swear on my right foot, I will slap every person I see the next day. And btw, did you guys see the hit Kurt Warner took??? He flew like 10 feet.

well its too bad he didn't "officially" retire, he basically quit, and if you don't think you know what i am talking about- i live in this state, and it sure looks like LT's heading down the same path, its a shame, because another 5,000 yards and the rushing record was his, oh well, maybe it wasn't to be. The three best backs of the last 2 decades hands down were Walter Payton,Barry Sanders, and LaDanian Tomlinson, Emmitt Smith has the records, but he had to go to "OTHER" teams that wanted him to do it. So if LT is truly done i hope he retires, just like the Jerry Rice thing, couldn't stand to see him in another jersey, its sick what the No Fun League (NFL) has come too, with all this bullshit, they might as well make it flag football, hell you can't hit anyone anymore, when i started watching football 30 years ago, you weren't down till you stopped "moving", not touched, and all these bullshit rules about roughing this, or roughing that, they ALL wear the same equipment, gimme a break, how is a 250+ pound linebacker supposed to redirect his flight when he has left his feet and is in the air and happens to hit the QB after the pass. The NFL has just turned into a garbage league, which suck, I enjoy watching my hockey and football, and hockey seems to be leaning towards the same way with all the nonsense hooking and grabbing calls, but oh well.. I still have my xbox to rely on..thats always fun.

Now here's something I can agree with you on. I know that Barry Sanders would own the record if he had played until he was no longer worth paying. I know that he actively flirted with the idea of returning to the NFL a few times. I'm sorry, I'm not saying Emmitt Smith wasn't a great RB, but Barry Sanders retired before he ended up looking like a washed up old fool the way Emmitt looked in the last years of his career. It was sad to watch as he became a 3rd down back for the Cardinals.
I agree with Payton and Sanders and I mentioned Bo Jackson, because if his career had not ended so ubruptly, he would be a huge player in this discussion in my opinion. Sadly, we'll never know for sure, but he was something special.
