New to Final Fantasy..Should I get it?

I've only played two Final Fantasy games: FFIV on the DS, and Crisis Core on the PSP. I'm thinking of getting XIII today. But I have a few questions, for anyone who has the game:

1. How long is the game? I don't know if I should buy or rent it.
2. Is it turn based or real time?
3. How many discs are there? I want to know how much space to keep on my HD.
4. Are the encounters random like in Pokemon and FFIV, where you walk around and it at random starts a battle?

It is a real good game. I like it so far. The story is really detailed and the cinematic is great

yeah, definitely get it, the each disc should be 3-4GB to install, but i don't see the need to install them all at the same time, just do one at a time as you play through the game
