Is combat evolving into what developers perceive the future of the genre should be or should it stay as a simplistic arena experience that "saved" Xbox from mediocrity? Most top franchises have been in this crossroads before. Classic or Contemporary? If a formula does not change does it become stagnant and die?
Maybe as a fanbase it's impossible to please us in this regard. If Halo continues to shift towards Call of Duty's strengths it will obviously have dissenters. But staying the same old Halo might give it a Dynasty Warriors distinction that again only Call of Duty manages to get away with. (Admit it, the multiple versions of the exact same game-play is very DW)
My personal opinion is they should continue to focus on the campaign, actually adding some new weapons (That feel new), more customization and continue to branch out beyond Master Chief in new directions. Would it be unheard of to release a campaign disc and two separately multiplayer experiences in the same package? Alternatively we could all simply say fuck it and play Battlefield...
