Just play the game. Get sacks and interceptions for bigger boosts. Big runs and big passes also give good boosts.
Sportsmanship is awarded for playing the game normal. Punting when you should instead of going for it on fourth down. Going for a fieldgoal on 4th down instead of a td. Not running up the score. Thats all I can give ya for sportsmanship as I am currently like negative 500.

Pretty much what peeper said. I am a few points away from level 10 in strategy. I've gotten pretty good at picking off the cpu. At 15 points per interception it adds up fast.
