^ I waited early in the morning in the GameStop parking lot to pre-order a wii. I was second in line behind a grandma.

I don't understand why people refer to others as geeks and nerds, yet we're on a gaming forum for xbox gamerscore, talking about gaming. Doesn't make sense. Anyway, I went to the Gears 3 midnight release, (Which was pretty bland.) and I went to the Skyrim midnight release. (Also bland.)

I've been to 2 i think.
Halo: Reach. And Gears of War 2.
I Don't Mind being out late, but like others said the people can be quite interesting. Was tempted to go get skyrim for my roomate at midnight then changed my mind when i heard that the mob in front of Gamestop Kept Yelling FUS RO DAHHHHHH!

Lol, it takes one to know one I guess? I'm the first to admit I'm a nerd, but what I don't understand is those people who feel that proper hygiene is something they can avoid when they go to a midnight release, or say a Magic: The Gathering convention. I went to one of those last year (maybe two years now?), with my son, and the entire room smelled like body odor. Not to mention I actually knew the rules better than some of the "regulars," but I seriously don't think I sat next to/ walked near a person who had actually taken a bath/shower that day.
I honestly don't have a problem with people dressing up and enjoying themselves, but I do have a problem with people who are so obnoxiously loud in their normal conversations that people halfway down the line can hear them talking about who should play Master Chief in a Halo movie.
I guess the term I want to use is "socially awkward." Some of these people don't know how to conduct themselves in a public situation, and some apparently don't know how to bathe. So I do use the term geek and nerd, but I'm also perfectly fine with admitting that I am one.

Nerd... ^
The kids I was talking about at the New Vegas midnight release were complete assholes. They thought they should've gotten to be first in line, get the game for free and thought they knew everything about every Fallout ever invented. I casually asked one of them if they got all the achievements or did everything in the game and most of them said they didn't even complete the main story because they were too busy doing the and I quote, "unlimited number of side quests". I told them, I got every achievement in about a week and did about 95% of the side quests and they didn't believe me so I pulled up xbox.com on my phone and showed them my timestamps. When they saw my gamerscore they immediately shut up and went back to their proper spot in line.
That is why I called them nerds. Also, like Mini mentioned, they smelled like ass.

I work 10 to 10 on weekdays, so unless I order a game through amazon or have my wife pick it up for me, midnight releases are my only option (don't want to wait 'till the weekend).
Sometimes it is fun, if there's an event or they are giving away free crap. But most of the time is boring to listen how cool crossovers between games would work. Like "Batman would kick Kratos' ass" or "who's your favorite Dead or Alive girl?".
And yes, half the line always smells like ass.
The other half is just pussy repellent.

Oh, well I can understand that. That actually makes sense. I just hate it when people on xbox talk trash and call others nerds, when they're on xbox live too. You have a valid point though, there's a difference in-between loving games, and thinking you're a badass without hygiene. XD

I went to halo 3, odst, reach and a few others, to me they are nothing special, depending on the store you go to. The one for Halo Odst had a tournament set up in front of the game stop. others its just a giveaway and some free drinks

I've gone to midnights for:
Mass Effect 3
Batman: AC
gears 3
madden 12
halo reach
COD MW2
GTA 4
Alan wake/RDR (same night)
and a bunch more. I'll go if i don't have work the next day since I usually have nothing better to do anyway.

When I went to the midnite release for ME3 the store crew asked how many people were there for one of the release of a sports game (don't ask me which one as I have no idea) and there was one guy. One. He got to go first at 11:55. He was REALLY embarrassed. There were 3 people for Tekken. They got to go second.

Lol the sports game was MLB 12 The Show (or MLB 2k12). Thats funny shit he was embarrased. I actually bought MLB 12 and ME3 at the same time during the midnight release.
