Microsoft Wireless Mic Problem
07/30/10 8:25 pm | #1
Dead. Completely dead. Was at maybe three bars last night, turned it off, plugged it in my Xbox, like I do every night, and today it won't turn on. At all. Any suggestions or specific known problems about these p.o.s.?

How long have you had it? Perhaps that rechargeable battery is gone. If its been a short time, then it's still under warranty.

Hopefully. I know I've had it for less than a year.. possibly even less than six months. Looked around where I usually keep my receipts, think I found ever receipt BUT the one I needed. So I don't know if there's much they can do for me without one.

One way to find out.....1-800-4MYXBOX. The worst thing they can say is no. There is still another alternative if that doesn't work out. Buy one at Wal-Mart, clean your old one up and return that one. Wal-Mart may not give you a full cash refund and may simple exchange it. If that happens, sell it on ebay and get most of your money back.

I agree^^^
However, for the future dont charge it unless it's 100% dead. I've had mine for two years.

Yeah, it's best to let it die out before charging it. You can get a longer battery life.

So the same thing happened to my headset and I called....They said that if it was in warranty they would fix it, but if not then you were basically fucked out of $50/$60! I asked if there was a way that I could pay to have it fixed and they gave me a load a crap that was basically telling me to go buy a new one and that was really the only way to get it fixed. Good luck man! Hope it all works out for you.

Thanks everyone. I've sent it with my boyfriend so he can call Microsoft for me.
Can anyone recommend a good brand and series of headset? I would prefer wireless and separate voice and game sounds volume controls, if that's possible. I don't need the best of the best, but I want decent quality and something that will last. I was looking at Turtle Beach X31 (I think) and someone tried to deter me from that specific brand. Any reason why?

I've had like 15 different headsets, and Tritton AX Pros and Astro A40's are amazing. Turtle Beach's are the cheapest of all the headsets and I've had no problem with my X-1's, X-3's or X-4's.
It all depends how much ambient sound, footsteps and/or the detail of the sound you want.
You get what you pay for when it comes to headsets, don't be afraid to spend 150-200 bucks for a great set, it's definitely worth it.

It doesn't get any truer than that.
