Metro 2033 Discussions/Reactions

Only a few more days until it's released, figured I'd get some conversations going about it. As it stands right now, I have seen a few websites offer reviews and score ratings for it, most seem impressive.

They have stated numerous times that it has elements of Fallout 3 in it, but is nothing like it. I for one believe that any game that has elements or is based off Fallout 3 is going to kick ass. I love Fallout 3.

So, what do you all think?

so anyone on here gonna post their thoughts on the game? i really wanna get it but ill have to wait to get it via gamefly since i got god of war 3 on the way right now and they released the same day. this game does look sick though, is it more shooter or rpg-ish?

I for one am in the same boat, will probably just go buy it after work tomorrow though. I have the 2 out at a time plan and they still didn't send me Metro 2033

the hour i put into it was very pleasant.
i could name at least 5 games it reminds me of, if that makes any difference, lol.

fallout 3
FEAR
bioshock
jericho
darkest of days

take that how you want. it's fairly linear in the beginning at least, but still enjoyable.
i got more scare in the first hour than i got with bioshock 2 as a whole, i might add.
the shooting is a little chunky as well, but i think they did that on purpose to add to the "desperation" feel. i'll post more tomorrow if i get to play, lol.

I like Metro 2033 a lot for what it is. It is a very good game and good idea. I think it is really scary when you get many baddies on you and you begin to panic, which really makes the game a "chunky" shooter. The weapons, at first seem horribly off, but once upgraded and you get new and improved goodness, things start to work the way the were supposed to.

I have had only one real bad thing happen, I fell through the map on dead city and kept falling to where it looked like my guy went into convulsions, but would never die. It was easily beaten by loading my last checkpoint, lol.

I rate this game SO FAR an 8 out of 10 and i disagree with it being in the same realm as darkest of days or jericho (sorry noah).

It is a very, very enjoyable rental and a good pickup to say the least.

i actually agree with you. it's certainly not in the same realm as DoD or jericho. i should have given the game more time before saying that. i'd say it's an improved version of FEAR/condemned for sure though.

i haven't upgraded anything yet, because i'm trying to get the achievement for having so much "money" so things are still hard for me, but i'm loving this game. i don't like that your air filters offer so little air, and i've run into one glitched human enemy who wouldn't die, but other than that this game is very well designed, and the story and atmosphere are top notch.

Did you save the fascist soldiers and you couldnt kill him after you rescued him? Thats the one I couldnt kill, but it gave me the 30g so I was happy.

I pick up air filters and ammo from every dead body, not to mention a brand new mask after mine gets busted up.

How did you like the Ghosts level...it creeped me the eff out. I hate ghosts lol.

well the guy who wouldn't die was trying to kill me, so i don't think i rescued him lol. so far i've just been shooting everyone. not even sure if i'm at that point or not yet.

chapter 4? the part where i'm controlling the turret on the trolley.

as far as the ghosts level, i thought it was pretty cool, lol.
the freakiest part for me so far was dead city.

i love when the creatures rush you in total silence. freaky as shit.

IGN only gave this a 6.9 saying: "The game's atmosphere and unique design choices will make it a worthwhile experience for some, but Metro 2033 suffers from a number of issues (poor implementation of stealth, recurring glitches, etc.). Fans of post-apocalyptic stories should consider giving this a shot, if they can tolerate the aforementioned setbacks." So is it worth buying or just a rent? How long is the game?

people are saying 10-15 hours.
i'm not sure how much i've put into it yet, but completionists will be playing through it twice.
i don't mind at all.
