And that excerpt you posted about MvC3 not having spectator mode was dead-on; I was asking the same thing myself but it makes perfect sense.
Marvel vs. Capcom 3, Capcom has big plans for us
Just recently we have finally received the last few kilobits to complete the "DLC Characters" Jill Valentine and Shuma Gorath at a $10 price tag. Before that we also got the Alternate Costume DLC and the free Shadow Mode where you can fight CPU's with the play styles as individuals who worked on the game in some way personally, but this obviously isnt going to be the end of it. Marvel vs Capcom 2 lasted for a decade before Marvel vs Capcom 3 was finally released, with the advances in technology you can bet Capcom is going to utilize it and bring us all kinds of extras to make this already awesome game even better.
Just like Shadow Mode, Capcom plans on releasing another update to give us "Event Mode", according to Seth Killian this mode will give you a series of challenges and by completing those challenges you can earn titles. The mode is purely for fighters who have nothing else to do or who want to challenge themselves with this mode. This is slated for a March 25th Release, before its release there will be a title update on March 22th.
"Seth and Svensson said there were some surprises for them on the Marvel end of things in the DLC character polls that recently went around. The Capcom side — pretty much — was what they expected it to be. "
For those of you who didnt know there was a fan made poll made in the Capcom forums asking millions to vote for who they wanted in MvC3 as DLC. Here are the results. Personally i would rather see Megaman EXE opposed to Megaman X, im sure they could be creative with X's various super armors in the multiple X games, however Zero is already more then capable of showing MVC3 how powerful the world of Megaman X is.
Finally for those of you still awaiting "Spectator Mode", heres what Marvel vs Capcom 3 Producer Ryota Niitsuma had to say:
Quote by Interview:
4Gamer: Was it because of technical issues?
Ryota: "That's correct. This title is a 3-on-3 and the game speed is very fast, so the volume of communication data is larger than in SSF4. Even if we added in all those kinds of systems, they'd be no good if the matches were full of lags.
4gamer: "Looking at it from the outside, we'd assume that throwing in the mode would have been easy since you guys have already done that in SSF4, but it's apparently not.
Ryota: No. But I thought so in the beginning too (laughs).[*rest of article snipped*]
And that should just about do it for the current Marvel vs Capcom 3: Fate of Two Worlds updates for the time being, ill be sure to keep everyone updated from time to time whenever a large amount of news comes by.
