I bought Memorex Brand CD-RWs for myself and my laptop doesn't even recognize them at all. It is truly frustrating and any help would be grateful.

I have a Dell Inspiron 1721 with Vista and it will not recognize CD-RWs I bought just today at Wal-Mart.

Some CDs and DVDs just don't work in certain drives. Sadly if you burn blu-rays like my videographer buddy - even those don't work in every blu-ray player.
Its just a common problem unfortunately.

Sometimes certain batches of the same brand/type of CD etc won't work all the time.
I would try buying another brand and see if it works. If it does, its probably just a bad batch

Maybe it's a dirty lens or something, try them on another computer, there are such things as bad disks, I had them happen before a lot.

Yep. The whole pack, they were made at the same time and sometimes that happens.
When you use them a lot you will find that it isn't that uncommon of a problem

Are they a certain kind of RW's? I know for just R's theres an +R and a -R. My old laptop would only use the -R's. That could very well be the problem.
