Hail and welcome to XBA!
My cave is just a few miles north of where you are, as the crow flies. I forgive you for preferring DC comics. What did you think of the whole Lantern debacle?

I like Marvel as well; I just grew up on DC. I stopped reading DC (and Marvel) for a very long time and stuck with the indie publishers. I avoided Blackest Night and Brightest Day, so I can't comment on whatever nonsense they cooked up there.
When the new 52 came about, I started reading again. I thought I'd give them another try for a bit. I actually really like the Aquaman series, and a few others, but not many series I'll follow on a regular basis.
They've really messed up Lantern. It makes my head hurt just trying to make sense of it all. I watched the movie... I liked some of it but hated most of it.
As far as Marvel, I was always a Thor, Captain America, and Iron Man reader.

I was into Invader Zim way before anyone I knew had heard of it. I watched it all of the time, then people would tell me how cool it was years later when it was all over Hot Topic. Same thing with the first GnR album... I digress.
I tracked down as much of Vasquez's stuff as I could on the internet, since our little town doesn't have a comic store. The nearest one is Tyler. I really enjoy his stuff. Invader Zim was what got me into him, though.
I drifted off of mainstream stuff when Malibu was doing the Ultraverse. I read 2000AD and Heavy Metal, too.

Ha!
Heavy Metal? Too mainstream.
I read Metal Hurlant.
JK.
Welcome.

Revelation1318 - I own all of the Metal Hurlant stuff, but they stopped publishing it in 2004, I think? They still make Heavy Metal, so I still read it! I even have Schwermetall up to issue 166.
z Siilent x - Awesome! I haven't been involved since 2001 or so. Worked with a guy who had no training and didn't know how to take the bumps. He botched a spot and it screwed up my knee. It was just something I did for fun and wasn't going to wreck myself any further, so I got out. Plus, it started feeling too much like a job and it just wasn't fun anymore.
