So my friend has a HDD and and cable he used to transfer his 20gb to his 250gb HDD. He then got the rrod and bought a new slim so he had no use for the old 250 gb HD. Will I be able to transfer my 120gb HD to my friends old 250?

Only if he gave you the disc along with the transfer cable. Otherwise you'll be stuck doing it with either memory cards or jump drives.

"To use the transfer cable, you have to connect your old hard drive to the new X360-S 250GB through the USB port."
That's the answer I got when I asked about doing that.

I don't have the slim..he does, but he gave me his old hard drive along with the cable a disc. I have a 120 he gave me his old 250 with cable and disc so I will be able to pull this off if i'm reading this right.
