i care about mine and just because somebody has 100% all their games does not mean they are a modder..It all depends on what they play and if they boost......I had an account over 120,000 until i tried to recover my tag over a friends house and couldn't.....

what? no, i done even know you!
let me try to make this as simple as i can. i know a guy, hes a member on here. he cares about his gamerscore, like getting most, if not all, of the achievements in a game. legit, too! he might boost, but theyre still legit. he hacked/modded his gamerscore so he could get 1000 in a few games. i was proving ecliiipse wrong, because he said anyone who modded/hacked their gamerscore, obviously doesnt care about gamerscore, which is why they hacked it. but i know a guy who DOES care, but still hacked it.

Your friend is a pussy, easy as that. He has no integrity and no sense of fair play. I hope all his hard work and dedication gets rewarded to him next time Microsoft runs their next sweep on peoples gamerscores.

That was quite a mouthful. But I guess you're used to that kind of thing.

I feel there are ways to help this. If they didnt give a value to each achievement (aka gamerscore), I think that would of helped. I feel like the only reason people mod is because they want the higher score because it is competitive. Take away the competitiveness of it and no one gives a shit. Just have achievements. You can still unlock them but no number tied to them. Then it is just personal. You only unlock achievements for the challenge of them, not to get a bigger score than someone else.
Yeah but then all of the gamerscore cheaters would move over to modding in-game like CoD.

I love RPGs, which are typically the most time consuming for achievements (offline).. so far I have only completed two (Final Fantasy XIII and Resonance of Fate). It took me 118 hours for FFXIII and 90 hours for RoF. Someone can just mod and get all the achievements in like 30 seconds. ..wtf.
I couldn't stand to play a boring game or a game that I don't like just for gamerscore though. :| That's why I stick to games I like and try to get as many achievements as possible.

Might I suggest you check out Oblivion. Great RPG and fairly easily completed achievements.

I think I know who Takkuhoh is talking about. I haven't seen him post in a really long time though. I don't even think he plays that often anymore, he was online last week and not too much before then. On one hand, I boosted achievements with him quite a bit. But he was a completionist nut, and if he couldn't get the achievement, sometimes he'd mod it. Especially if the online for a game was dead. But if an achievement was glitched, he wouldn't mod it. However, if he could obtain it through regular means he would do everything he could to acquire it in a legitimate manner. If not, like I said, he modded it. I don't agree with what he did, but I do have a few things regarding the contents of this thread.
On the subject of modded gamerscore, for the purpose of people tracking it; then it is cheating. On the other hand, it seems some people are up in arms about one thing: the fact that these people exist and the notion they rarely get punished. Cheating has existed as long as mankind, we are lazy by nature. If we can do something an easier way that takes less time, then we do it. But by all merits, it no longer becomes an achievement. I liken this to a scientist working for a long time on one project and accomplishing it on his deathbed. On the flipside, let's say his assistant publishes it and gets the credit for it. By all means it is no longer his achievement. However, the scientist can still feel he achieved something but without the recognition. Many people make large achievements every day, and many are unrecognized by the public eye. For some, trumping an addiction is a massive achievement, but for others it is not. Same applies here, for the modder it may be an achievement because they successfully did it. For those who unlock the achievements via regular means, it’s still an achievement. And remember, just because someone else has it, doesn’t mean it loses its value. Regarding the issue at hand; the problem will exist as long as we people exist. There is no denying this. However, what can be done is simply ignore them. Ignore them and they'll go away, because the majority of them do it for the attention. Giving them what they want will not get us anywhere. They don't go unpunished, however. Eventually, everyone gets caught and receives their just desserts. However, it may take awhile. Microsoft isn't some sort of Black Ops government branch that has infinite resources and infinite man power. If they were, I would be afraid of tampering with my PC. But they aren't, and the joys of the modding community is that they are like a hydra. Cut off one, two grow back.
My personal opinion: let them do what they want. If it matters to you, then don't do it. If you are willing to do it, then you are willing to accept the consequences of your actions. You can get mad, but don't get furious. Achievements will not lose their value to you, but rather for the person who modded them in the first place. Also, in regards to some of the comments regarding the person not caring; maybe they do, maybe they don't. Never really know until they outright state if they don't, and even then we could argue into oblivion about the ethics and morals of it. As I said before, people have different visions of right and wrong, some have more gray than others. Again, what matters is where you place your values and remember the age old saying that originated in the Bible "Let he who is without sin cast the first stone." Everybody here has done bad things, everyone has a vice. For some people, that vice is modifying their gamerscore to give off the illusion of achievement. Like most things about people, dig deep enough and you'll find what is underneath.
I would like to conclude with the fact, that once again, this is simply a side effect of achievements. There will always be that darker element to a community. All that matters is that we carry on doing what we are doing, and what we feel is right.

yeah ive spent over 250 hours on fallout 3 because i actually got to level 30 on each karma individually. and i have all of the chivos, but it sorta gives you an unsecure feeling having 100% on a game because then ppl will give you crap about it cuz they are bad at it and dont want to put forwards the money and effort to achive it. i guess thats why i always play online now so all my chivos are time-stamped so i feel more comfortable.
and for the record, gamerscore hackers/modders/tamperers piss me off. wheater it is one chivo or all your chivos. every friend of mine that has done that i give them shit about it all the time. cuz they are just one complaint or sweep from getting reset.
