When I had a DS, a game I played nonstop was Animal Crossing: Wild World. It looks like a child game, and it might be meant that way, but it's actually quite addictive.
Also the Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass is a very fun game. I didn't like any Zelda games, but this game kept me hooked until the end. The story isn't bad either!
And some other suggestions I would say are...Mario Kart, Metroid Prime Hunters, New Super Mario Bros., and Advance Wars (either of them, their both great.)
