Achievements and I have a love/hate relationship. I love to get achievements on games that I enjoy. They add a different replayablility (spelling?) to my games. But I hate, and when I say hate I mean HATE, achievements that make you play a game for an eternity to get the achievement. For example, I love Gears 2 to death, it is a great game but there is no way I'm going get keep playing until level 100 or 100,000 kills. That takes forever!! There are so many good games that have come out that I want to play that I don't have time to play the same game over and over and over again just for an achievement.

I also hate multiplayer achievements. I usually don't have the cash to buy games new. I usually get my games when they are used, try to trade, or on sale. When I get a game that requires ranked matches NO ONE is playing them anymore so I can't get the achievements, just like Meta said. Pisses me off. I'm also not near as good as most people out there, so it's difficult to get some of the online achievements. Coop achievements are great. I love working with my friends to achieve something in a game.

Amen brother! That pretty much sums it up for me too.
When it comes to getting tired of playing games through several times for achievements, I have a little bonus to help me get tired of them. Both my 120gig hd's were full so I was clearing out some space and accidentally deleted my profile. I have to play every single game I own over again to the point where I was before to get back to where I was before I can get cheevos again. That put a real damper on things.

I've never been a diehard Waffler, but I can never quit on achievements because I love the sound they make when you get them just too much.
