I hear You,Setsuna,i mean....ive always looked at achievements as a bonus to playing the game, but i guess in a way you're rite,i mean....you kinda cant say youve completed a game unless you 1k it....while you may have finished the whole campaign/story mode, achievement still remain leaving that goal in a way, unattended.but until i joined this site,i didnt really focus on Achievements/GS too much.and im still not too focused on it,but id always love to be ahead of some of my buddies....but yeah..theres my 2 cents...

Modern Warfare 2 has shown me I can enjoy games for what they are. And Mw2 is probably the ONLY game I played for enjoyment (besides halo 3)
EDIT: and Half-Life 2

Yes and no, I've really toned down my waffling after I hit 100k. I have been trying to play games for fun lately, but even my favorite genre (the RPG) makes it hard to truly enjoy the game like I used to, I find myself trying to minimize the number of playthroughs instead of enjoying the game to the fullest. I always have enjoyed playing all kinds of games and I still enjoy picking up the oddball game every now and then, it just sucks that I'm a completionist as well.
I'm an addict, I won't give up achievements completely, but I have toned it down quite a bit lately.

Not really tired of achievements, in order to avoid getting burned out... I play what I feel like.
Sometimes I have fun just playing mw2 online for days, some days I prefer to beast through a new or old game, and some days I just play Aion on the pc.
Achievements don't run my life or anything but they do add value to gaming on the 360 - I also have fun in gamerscore competitions like the team one that is ongoing now.

Has anyone else ever considered just quitting achievements all together , achievements has blinded gamers of what video games truly are.
On the contrary, I personally feel that achievements are the embodiment of why we play games.
I leveled all of my Dragon Warrior characters to level 99 long after the final boss fell. There were no achievements for it, but if the old school games had them, I would've gotten one for it.
We explore our favorite games to collect everything and amass an imaginary fortune. Achievements just give you the satisfaction of knowing that we have been recognized for going above and beyond in our hobby of choice.
We, as gamers, have been unlocking "achievements" for years, whether we were awarded points based on an arbitrary system or not. Did you not brag to your friends on the school bus the next day after you beat Super Mario Brothers with one guy without using warps? I sure did! Achievements are a natural progression based on what we love about games!
Another thing about achievements is that when we get a PS3, it will be for PS3 exclusives only. Any game that ships for both consoles will be bought on 360 because of achievements. My Gamerscore will be the deciding factor for our game purchases.

^^^This.
ALso, what about the first time you went through Super Mario Bros. with Turbo held down the entire time? My older bro and I used to do speed runs. lol.
And Contra, we were so good at that one we could beat it without dying, didn't need the konami code by the time we mastered that one. Wish I was still that good at it..........

Ditto. I haven't bought any crappy games for a while just for achievements. I've been going through all my games and looking at ones I either knew were easy 1000's or ones that I have yet to complete like right now I'm going back and playing Assassin's creed just because I haven't finished it.
