i'm just gonna go on a limb here on the story and take a guess:
those new tentacle creatures we see in the Ashes to Ashes trailer will probably do something crazy and screw up the Locusts chain of command and nests. the humans will see an oppurtunity amidst the confusion, kill the queen, Locusts all die off slowly because of that. most of the tentacle creatures will be dead from fighting the Locusts and the human's will do a "final drive" type thing and finish everything else off in one big battle.
somewhere in between all of this, Marcus/Dom will have some kind of revelation and see the truth behind all of this where they both realize what everything truly meant. the ending of the game will be complete and leave players to draw their own conclusion on how humans will rebuilt the world and their lives.
i call this storyline. a year from now, we're gonna see how correct i am <_<
of course, there's also the possibility of a complete opposite story where all humanity is killed off xD
