'LEGO Pirates of the Caribbean: The Video Game' Announced, Teaser Released

Disney Interactive Studios and Traveller's Tales Games today announced LEGO Pirates of the Caribbean: The Video Game for the Wii, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, PSP, DS, and Windows PC, scheduled for simultaneous release with the new film “Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides” in May 2011.

LEGO Pirates of the Caribbean: The Video Game will be based in the world of the film franchise, incorporating storylines, locations and characters from the first three films as well as the upcoming "On Stranger Tides."

As the previous LEGO titles players can take on the roles of more than 70 characters across more than 20 levels in single-player or two-player cooperative mode, in either Story mode or Freeplay mode, which lets players return to levels to discover new items. That trademark diagonal split-screen, drop-in-drop-out co-op multiplayer remains intact, but there'll be no online co-op.

Graham Hopper, the EVP and GM of Disney Interactive Studios, spoke about the video game, saying:

Pirates of the Caribbean is a globally successful franchise based in action, adventure and humor perfectly suited for a LEGO Pirates of the Caribbean: The Video Game adaptation. Combining the excitement of playing as Jack Sparrow and other recognizable characters from the franchise will make the game fun for players of all ages throughout the world.

the lego video game series have and probably always will be my favorite children's games. the fact that i've 1k'd both of the ones i have, (Lego Star Wars:TCS and Lego Indiana Jones) and i've played batman on the Wii. I wish i had the money to go get Lego HP but i don't... so i'l have to wait. i can't wait for this next game

yeah i can't wait either...i love the LEGO games! i've 1k'd Indiana Jones and am working ont the second Indy Jones one...

Yeah, i'm getting sick of them too, but I really never got into them. I just never found any of them to be fun.

I think a lot of us are.

For me, it was trying to complete Indiana Jones 1 that broke the camel's back. Later on I put Lego Batman in and watched the opening cutscene--as soon as I was able to move and I started picking up little studs and the HUD came up with the "0/10" for artifacts and stuff, I was like 'nope, I'm done.'

Way back when they first came out with the first Lego Star Wars, I thought it was a fun-yet-simple game, especially if you had a friend to play with locally. The fun didn't even last until that game's end, though, and every game afterward was less fun.

Meh I don't mind the Lego games, I still need to 1k the Star Wars and Indy 2, prolly try and gamefly this sometime or get it for 20 bucks when it price drops

They are ok...until I am trying to 1K them.
