Which do you think is better, leave your vote and state reasons why.

Star Ocean for me:

-Better combat

-Leveling up

-Characters are more interesting

-Loved the voice acting

-Story is easier to follow

-lot's of re-play value

-more colorful and just as pretty as FFXIII

-Not an easy 1000 just like FFXIII, but I'd feel way more accomplished to have 1000 on SO than FFXIII

I can't say for certain since I only put a little over 9 hours into Star Ocean 4 and am 17 hours into Final Fantasy 13, but so far:

-Vastly prefer FF's combat system. Flows nicely and takes care of redundant micromanagement for you.

-Prefer FF's characters, but not by much. I liked about 2 people in SO and so far I only really like 2 in FF, however I like that FF is a little less wide-eyed and typically anime-oblivious about stuff.

-Visuals in both games are awesome. Stylish and colourful, with SO having an awesome anime vibe and FF trying to go a little more subtle, I think overall I'd actually have to give the graphics award to SO in every way except during proper combat.

-Exploration in both games is pretty retarded so far, but that's just because I'm spoiled by Western-RPG's.

-I agree the story is easier to follow in SO4, but it seems to me that's because it's so much simpler, and as a J-RPG fan I'm surprised you would fault FF13 for having a depthy, convoluted story.

After I finish FFXIII I intend to rent Star Ocean 4 again and delve in to it further. You have pretty good taste in games so I'm confident I'll enjoy it.

I agree pretty much with what you said Meta, I just wanted to say that I don't penalize FFXIII for having an in-depth story, it's just not the easiest thing to follow at times, and I like Star Oceans better, even if it's simplified. Star Ocean really picks up once you get farther into the game, you got to give it a chance lol.
