Hey everybody,

I've been playing through Fallout 3 for the first time and absolutely loving it. I'm 17 or so hours in and am up to the quest right before Tranquility Lane. I'm currently getting the slaves for Paradise Falls. Ok, so that's where I'm at.

Here's my problem, I can boot up the game and it runs well, except it freezes. Whenever I try to fast travel or while traveling through the Wasteland the game freezes whenever it tries to load a new area. My xbox is completely locked and I have to shut it off.

I have tried two copies of the game in two different xbox's. I tried installing the game to the hard drive. I also tried clearing the cache and running the game w/ and w/o the patch. I've had absolutely no luck at all in getting this issue resolved.

I really don't want to have to restart after the time I've put in. Does anyone have any ideas about anything I can do to resolve this?

Thanks in advance for any help.
-Ben

Taco had the same issue I believe. I think he just had to start a new game. You'll probably have to do the same. Sorry bud.

Also, do you have any DLC installed in the game? You could try deleting that from your HD then seeing if it will load. Finish your quest or the game then try loading the DLC again, that's all I got to offer you.

AJ - Bummer. Thanks for the quick response. I'm starting to fear that I will in fact have to start over.

I don't have any DLC installed. I'm running the original disc, not the GOTY edition.

Durtie - I tried that too. I was at Rivet City and tried walking all the way to Paradise Falls. It froze once I got 2/3 of the way there.

You can try dropping something from your inventory. I know when New Vegas wouldn't load anything for me, I dropped a gun from my inventory just for laughs and low and behold everything loaded fine after that.

Whatever you drop, make sure you only have one of, if you have like 10 stimpacks and drop one, nothing will happen. Try dropping a crappier gun or book or something. Then try fast traveling somewhere. Rinse and repeat with everything in your inventory until you find the one that lets you load the game.

Also, all the discs are the same, the GotY disc is the same normal retail disc, all the DLC is on a separate disc.

One last thing you could try is getting a couple q-tips and some toothpaste (as long as it doesn't contain bleach). Pump some toothpaste onto a q-tip and rub it ALL OVER the disc. Then run your faucet until the water is hot enough to hurt your hands if held under it. Let the hot water rinse away all the toothpaste and put the disc in between two towels and blot it dry, don't rub. Then try to fast travel somewhere.

AJ - Thanks for the idea. I tried dropping everything in my inventory. And by everything I mean I had a weight of 0/270. I even fired Charon to try and fast travel. It still froze. I'm just going to suck it up and start a new game. I have to get the good karma quest achievements anyways.
