Fallout 3 help

all right, so i searched fallout 3 in the search box and didnt find anything, so im going to ask

i picked up fallout 3 yesterday and i've got it now for the next two weeks. only problem is, i want to get as many achievements as possible, in as little time possible. As you can tell by my signature, i've got a long list of games im working on, so i dont want to spend 100 hours on this if i dont have to. im not aiming for the full 1k (im not getting any dlc). But i just want to ask around, what do you all think the best way to aproach this game from an achievement standpoint is?

Maybe just going threw the whole main story making sure i do everything that can only be done at one point in the game and then go do side quests/ misc achievements?

Or do the side quests as they appear in the main story? Something totally different? What do you all think i should do?

EDIT: dont worry about spoiling the plot or anything, i already know most of what goes on. you can put spoilers in spoiler boxes for the sake of others who dont want the game spoiled

I would personally just do any quest that comes your way. I've got the full 1550 in it and I only spent about 50-60 hours on it... You should have no problem getting 800+ out of it. Just make sure you save often and get all the Karma leveling achievements out of the way.

For that all you have to do is make sure your karma level stays neutral and then just reload your game and do either good or bad stuff for the achievements.

I would say do the main story then do the side quests with the time left over.

Play the main story line all the way up to where you meet a certain large green fellow. Once he is "yours" simply play all the side missions, as each is 20 gamerscore and none of them are very difficult except for The Nuka-Cola Challenge as it takes quite a while. You'll see what I mean about the green guy if you play the main campaign, sorry for being so vague, just didn't want to spoil any of the story.

If you are just going for achievements I would advise you stopping the main story when you "obtain" the green guy, however this game is amazing and I urge you to play it to its fullest.

EDIT: In the 3 minutes it took to write that 4 other people have posted haha.

Would be easier on side quests since you will be at a higher level than you would when you first have the choice to do it.

Well most guides at x360a are written by the community.You can 1K it in 40-60 hours tbh.

Well most guides at x360a are written by the community.You can 1K it in 40-60 hours tbh.

hmm... didnt know that, thanks

i like this community better though. and i trust them a little more for some reason

Make sure you save before you level up for the karma-level related achievements so you do not have to play through three times to get the bad-neutral-good achievements. Just simply make sure you have enough XP cushion to rise or fall to the right karma level (Kill civilians to lose/give purified waters to beggars outside main cities to raise)

just for the sake of achievements, bring down the difficulty so that you dont waste time fighting hard areas over and over again

any advice i could offer is covered here.

just keep in mind that "take it back" is the last quest in the story.
make sure you wrap up everything else before completing this mission.

thanks all. and @anime, trust me, im not playing this game only for achievements, its just that i dont want to spend 100 hours trying to get them. I really do want to enjoy the game as much as possible
