I had high hopes for Fable 3, but ultimately did the opposite. The Menu system and leveling up feature were very bothersome. Overall, I didnt like the complete castration of the RPG the first and second game had. Not to mention the campaign being 4 hours long, I was expecting more from the potentially last Fable game.
I hope Peter Molyneaux realizes he needs to build upon the features that made Fable 1 and 2 great instead of reintroducing new ones. In my opinion, Fable 2 did a lot of things right, if he would of just perfected everything that was done in that game, Fable 3 would have been a masterpiece.
I think this accurately sums up the general malaise people felt over fable 3. I can't dispute that 2 felt like it was a franchise well on it's way to putting out a perfect game and 3 felt like an entirely different one in many aspects.
@Mudkip : I wouldn't want fable 3 rereleased to include hardcore just (if possible) patched.
As shadow suggested, I would have really appreciated more of an AI scaling. Fighting the later baddies should have presented a new challenge instead of showing up so late in the game as to allow the player to fight with fully maxed skills and weapons.
From what I gather the hardcore mode only seems to improve enemy AI and drops the regeneration rate of hp forcing you to use potions or food items that could easily be forgotten about. I would have loved to have that element included. As I found it extremely cheap to be able to walk outside of an opponents strike zone or roll around until your health came back.
Anyway, I'll keep my eyes open for any word about it coming to xbox.
